Generac 7171 10kW Guardian Series Home Standby Generator
Automatic Home Backup Power with Mobile Link® Remote Monitoring
Protect your home and family during unexpected power outages with the
Generac 7171 10kW Guardian Series Home Standby Generator. Designed for residential backup power, this permanently installed generator connects to your existing
natural gas or liquid propane (LP) fuel supply and automatically starts within seconds of detecting a utility power failure. It continues supplying power until utility service is restored.
Delivering
10,000 watts of running power, the Guardian Series combines Generac's purpose-built G-Force engine, TruePower™ Technology, and remote monitoring capabilities to provide dependable backup electricity with minimal routine maintenance.
With
Mobile Link® Wi-Fi connectivity included at no additional cost, you can monitor generator status, performance, and maintenance alerts from a compatible phone, tablet, or computer, even when you're away from home.
Key Features
Automatic Backup Power
The Guardian Series is designed to detect a utility power interruption and start automatically, helping keep selected household circuits or compatible home systems powered during an outage.
Depending on your home's electrical requirements and installation configuration, the generator can be set up for essential-circuit coverage or broader whole-home backup.
10kW Output with TruePower™ Technology
The generator provides
10,000 watts of running power using Generac's TruePower™ Technology, which delivers clean, stable electricity with
less than 5% total harmonic distortion (THD).
This power quality is designed to support compatible household appliances, electronics, and other electrical equipment.
Mobile Link® Remote Monitoring
Included Mobile Link® connectivity lets you check your generator's operating status and receive maintenance alerts remotely.
Monitor your generator from:
- Smartphones
- Tablets
- Computers
Remote monitoring helps you stay informed about generator status without needing to inspect the unit in person.
Quiet-Test™ Self-Test Mode
The Quiet-Test™ mode runs the generator at a lower RPM during its self-test cycle, helping reduce noise and fuel consumption compared with operation at higher engine speeds.
This feature makes routine testing more considerate of the surrounding home environment.
Purpose-Built G-Force Engine
The
Generac G-Force 400 Series engine is designed specifically for standby-generator applications. Its purpose-built construction is intended to withstand the demands of regular backup operation while supporting reliable performance and reduced maintenance requirements.
Natural Gas or Liquid Propane Fuel
The Guardian generator connects to an existing natural gas or LP fuel supply, eliminating the need to refill a portable gasoline tank.
The selected fuel source and supply installation must meet the generator manufacturer's requirements and applicable local codes.
Designed for Easier Installation
Generac's installation-focused design includes:
- Removable door panels
- A base pad requiring minimal ground preparation
- Wiring techniques intended to help reduce installation time
Generac recommends installation by a
certified and licensed electrician and qualified professionals familiar with standby generator systems.
Durable Aluminum Enclosure
The aluminum enclosure is designed for outdoor installation and long-term durability. Its compact form helps accommodate residential standby-power installations when the required clearances and site conditions are met.
24/7/365 Customer Support
Generac provides around-the-clock customer support, backed by a nationwide dealer network to help owners access assistance and service resources.
Ideal Applications
The Generac 7171 Guardian Series is designed for:
- Residential emergency backup power
- Essential household circuits
- Compatible appliances and electronics
- Broader home backup configurations when properly sized
- Automatic power protection during utility outages
Actual coverage depends on the home's electrical demand, generator capacity, transfer-switch configuration, and professional installation.
